OAKLAND EAST BAY SYMPHONY TUNES
UP FOR
FREE PERFORMANCE AT RICHMOND AUDITORIUM
Second performance in West County Concert
Series spotlights
family, and music students from local schools
The
City of Richmond will host the
Oakland East Bay Symphony (OEBS) in a free
performance open to the public on Sunday, March 16, 2003, at
3:00 p.m., at the Richmond Memorial Auditorium, 403 Civic
Center Plaza.
This performance is the second in the 2003 West County Concert
Series. OEBS Music Director Michael Morgan will conduct this
special family concert, which features young musicians from
the West County Unified School District.
Upholding the Oakland East Bay Symphony’s tradition of
cultivating young talent, these outstanding student musicians
will play side by side with OEBS musicians performing a new
piece written especially for them by composer Kathrynn Lyle.
The concert will also showcase the winner of this year’s Young
Artist Competition, Fred Morgan, playing William Kraft’s
Timpani Concerto. The Symphony will also perform Franz
Schubert’s Symphony No. 5 in B-flat Major, which was
written when the composer was only 19 years of age.
The Oakland East Bay Symphony West County Concert Series is
sponsored in part by The Mechanics Bank and Chevron. For more
information, please call (510) 620-6793.
