The Academy of Art University-San Francisco provided another four-year tuition scholarship valued at over $88,000 to one high school art student who lives in Richmond and is on course to graduate in 2010. The City of Richmond YouthWORKS Summer Jobs program and Richmond Community Redevelopment Agency partnered with The Academy of Art University-San Francisco to offer this arts opportunity.

As part of the competition, all 10 students will attend the 2009 Academy of Art University-San Francisco Pre-College Summer program which offers four art classes over a six-week period - with free registration and materials. One deserving student will be selected to receive the four-year scholarship based on his or her art work and overall dedication toward pursuing art as a career path.

Miss Sierra Holly, a Richmond resident, was presented with the 2009 Academy of Art University-San Francisco Art Scholarship valued at $88,600. She was among 10 high school students that competed for the scholarship over the summer of 2008. Her artwork will be prominently displayed at the Community Services Building, part of the newly renovated Richmond Civic Center Complex.

On May 21, 2009 at the event held at the Richmond Auditorium, ten 11th grade Kennedy High School students were recognized as they have been selected to participate in the 2009 Academy of Art University-San Francisco Pre-College Summer program.
