Los Cenzontles

DancerKCRT is proud to present a variety of specials from Los Cenzontles Mexican Art Center.  Located in San Pablo, CA, the center is the home of the award-winning musical group, Los Cenzontles.

The specials are:

Pasajero: A Journey of Time and Memory
[1 hour]
The Entire Documentary:
A bilingual one-hour documentary that follows a group of young Mexican-American musicians who join their mariachi maestro on his homecoming to Mexico. Together they perform a forgotten style of roots mariachi music and dance, and meet people who embody the spirit of old Mexico. Pasajero is a heartfelt reminder of the vital role that music plays in defining our identities.

Los Cenzontles at El Campanil Theater

Los Cenzontles perform regional Mexican music and dance at the historic El Campanil Theater in Antioch, CA, in 2007.

Cuatro Maestros and
Los Cenzontles at the Getty Museum
Two back-to-back specials: The Cuatro Maestros Touring Festival was a music and dance performance festival by four celebrated elder master folk artists representing their respective Mexican and Mexican-American regional traditions accompanied by members of their groups as well as Los Cenzontles. The second special was recorded in April 2002 at The Getty Museum in Los Angeles.
