Mental Health Perspectives on KCRT

Seen as an occasional special on KCRT, this award-winning program discusses the differences and treatment of mental health and mental illness.

Produced by The Contra Costa County Mental Health Division and Contra Costa Television (CCTV) in Martinez, CA, the usual one-hour weekly series features a variety of health professionals in discussion segments and viewer calls.


KCRT is airing the following selected shows with back-to-back episodes to form a special 2-hour telecast:

Episode: Depression
It can happen to teens, new mothers, the elderly, & Fathers. In fact, it can afflict almost anyone. Clinical depression affects over 19 million Americans. The first hour will discuss diagnosis & treatment. The second hour will focus on Children.

Episode: 
Bipolar Disorder in Adults and Children
Bipolar Disorder definition is characterized by mood swings from mania to depression. You or someone you know may have exaggerated feelings of well being or is depressed to the edge of suicide. This disorder appears between the ages of 4 and 25 and effects men and women equally. Hour two talks about the disorder in children.

Episodes: "Youth & Family Services" and "Getting Help"
This first hour will focus on community-based expansions to youth and family services in Contra Costa County. In hour two, viewers will receive resources information as to where to go and get help.
