Welcome to "Digital Notes," KCRT's technology forum.

"Digital Notes" was created in response to the historic convergence between telecommunications and digital media that is occurring in our midst, and in anticipation of the growing number of users who will access the Internet in the coming years. The goal of this section is quite simple: to develop a critical focus on new technology. Far too often innovations are announced with very little discussion. We created this forum to broaden the debate, and to gain some perspective on the effects of technology on daily life.

Our modest contribution will be the inclusion of news, announcements, and the highlighting of trends, analysis, and commentary that seeks to enhance our understanding of technical developments. In the process, we hope that "Digital Notes" will not only enlighten, but also expand the vision of readers so that they may see more possibilities for technology in the future. To that end, we encourage all those who access this forum to read and comment on any of the articles, and to become active participants in the debate.

As an estimated 70,000 new Internet users log on each day, we think "Digital Notes" will be a timely and welcome addition to the discussion.
